IT projects and consultancy for accountancy practices

Sometimes you need more than day-to-day support: an honest audit, an expert second opinion, or a project done properly. From Microsoft 365 and Active Directory audits to Wi-Fi, networking and office moves, we plan and deliver it without disrupting client work.

Not everything is day-to-day support. Sometimes you need a specific piece of work done well: a network for a new office, an honest look at whether your Microsoft 365 is set up safely, or the cabling and Wi-Fi for a growing team. That's where our projects and consultancy come in.

Practices often call us at a turning point: taking on more staff, moving premises, or going through a sale or merger where someone needs to look properly under the bonnet of the IT. We scope the work clearly, quote it up front, and deliver it around your client work, not through it. And we're happy to take on a one-off project even if someone else handles your day-to-day support.

Projects and audits we take on

Microsoft 365 audit

A clear-eyed review of your 365 security, access, licensing and backup, with a plain-English report and a prioritised list of what to fix.

Active Directory & domain audit

For practices still running an on-site server, we audit your Active Directory, permissions and policies, the things that drift over the years and quietly become a risk.

IT health & security audit

A whole-practice look at where you're exposed. Ideal before a busy season, a move, or due diligence for a sale or merger.

Wi-Fi & networking

Reliable, business-grade Wi-Fi and switching, designed with Ubiquiti to cover your whole office with no dead spots or drop-outs.

Structured cabling & office moves

Cabling a new office, or moving premises without losing a day of client work. We plan it, coordinate it, and test everything before you arrive.

Infrastructure & hardware

New servers, firewalls and network upgrades, supplied and installed at fair, transparent cost, sized to what your practice actually needs.

Secure scanning & print

Printer and multifunction device setup with scan to Microsoft 365, confidential print release and locked-down scan-to-email, so client documents stay confidential from the tray to the file.

Secure scanning and print, handled properly

A practice scans and prints a constant stream of confidential client paperwork, and the machine in the corner is easy to overlook as a risk. We set printers and multifunction devices up the right way: scanning straight into Microsoft 365 or SharePoint so documents land where they belong, confidential print release so sensitive paperwork never sits forgotten on a shared tray, and scan-to-email locked down rather than left as an open relay a criminal can abuse.

It's a small thing that quietly supports a big duty. Done well, secure scanning sits neatly alongside your cyber security, and where you're moving document storage online it's part of a wider cloud migration.

How a project works

No surprises, no open-ended bills. We keep projects as straightforward as the rest of what we do, so you always know what's happening and what it costs.

  1. 1

    Scope and quote

We agree exactly what's involved and quote it clearly up front, based on the scope of work.

  2. 2

    Plan around you

We schedule the work to avoid your busy periods and keep client work running throughout.

  3. 3

    Deliver and test

We do the work, test it properly, and hand it over working, with documentation to match.

Where a project leads

One piece of work often points to the next. An audit might flag that it's time for a cloud migration off an ageing server, or that your backup and disaster recovery needs shoring up. And once a project is done, our managed IT support keeps it that way, so the improvement sticks rather than slowly drifting back.

Questions practices ask us

Can you do a one-off project without taking over our IT?

Yes. Plenty of practices bring us in for a specific project, a Microsoft 365 audit, a new office network, a server move, without changing their day-to-day support. We're happy to work alongside whoever looks after you now and just deliver the piece of work you need.

What's actually in a Microsoft 365 or Active Directory audit?

We review how your Microsoft 365 (or your on-site Active Directory domain) is really set up: security and access, permissions, licences you're paying for but not using, backup, and the settings that quietly leave you exposed. You get a plain-English report with a prioritised list of what to fix, not a 40-page document nobody reads.

We're moving offices. Can you handle the IT side?

Yes, it's one of our most common projects. We plan the network, structured cabling and Wi-Fi for the new premises, coordinate the move so client work isn't disrupted, and make sure everything is tested and working before your team arrives.

Do you supply the hardware too?

We do. For networking we typically use Ubiquiti for reliable, business-grade Wi-Fi and switching, and we'll supply servers, firewalls and the rest at fair, transparent cost as part of the project quote.

Can you set up secure scanning into our document system?

Yes. We set printers and multifunction devices up to scan straight into Microsoft 365, SharePoint or your document-management system, so client paperwork lands in the right place rather than an inbox. We also turn on confidential print release where it helps, so sensitive documents only print when the right person is stood at the machine, not left sitting on a shared tray.

Is scan-to-email actually safe?

It can be, but it's often set up badly. A multifunction device left as an open mail relay is a genuine data-leak and fraud risk, so we lock scanning down to authenticated, encrypted sending, restrict where it can send, and make sure it fits the rest of your security. It's the kind of small gap that's easy to miss until it matters.

How is a project priced?

Clearly and up front, based on the scope, so you know the cost before we start. No open-ended bills. Many practices begin with a short audit, which often pays for itself by surfacing licences, risks or inefficiencies you didn't know were there.
